When you buy an iPad, it looks like millions of others. So, like others, you look for an iPad case — to protect your device, carry a few accessories, and show a bit more of your personal style.

Using high quality wool felt made by hand in the spectacular Tian-Shan mountains of central Asia, each of our iPad cases has been carefully hand-stitched by indigenous artisans and displays traditional Kyrgyz embroidery.

What makes our cases truly unique, however, is the women whose lives are slowly being transformed as they sew.

Case For A Cause exists to help women from this area escape from a life of abuse – whether domestic abuse, forced prostitution or human trafficking.  Every penny of the profits goes back to help these women develop and sustain a better quality of life. All artisans are paid a fair wage to make each case, and the Issyk Kul Development Center is provided valuable funds to help their work of intervention, counseling, job training, and other programs to help these women gain hope and the possibility of a better future for themselves and their children.

All American support for this project is 100% volunteer – they even pay for their own coffee and were the first ones to buy a case.

We currently offer iPad cases in two different colors (white stripe on brown or brown stripe on white), so take your pick and carry your iPad in a beautiful case that was made for a beautiful reason.

Description:

Since each case is made by hand, it will be unique. The pictures are an accurate representation, but the pattern of the embroidery may vary slightly from what you see in the pictures, and the size may also vary. We have tried to make them uniform while not losing the distinct hand-crafted styling and have sorted them in “generous” and “slim” sizes.  A full description is contained on the purchase page.

Each case is made of high-quality hand made wool felt. It is lined with dublerine which does not scratch the screen or aluminum casing of your iPad. The flap is held shut by a single piece of hand sewn velcro. The central stripe of the case doubles as a handy pocket that is accessible when the flap is opened. The pocket is large enough for a passport and an iPhone, or a passport, ear-buds and the charging cord.

Due to the lovingly made / handcrafted nature of each case, they are sorted into “generous” and “slim” sizes. “Generous” cases have been tested with an iPad 2 and a Zagg Keyboard case (7 1/2 ” by 9 3/4 ” by 11/16th “). “Slim” cases are guaranteed to fit an iPad 2 with a Smart Cover.  As they are made with felt, they will stretch ever so slightly.

This batch of cases are $35 each with a $5 per case shipping/handling charge.  Currently we ship to North America only.
